Sylvia Dianne Beverly, "Ladi Di", internationally acclaimed poet.  She is a native of Washington, DC and studied at the University of
the District of Columbia, where she majored in English.  Ms. Beverly has a deep passion for poetry.  She receives much joy from writing
poetry, songs and stories.  She is author of the forthcoming book "Forever In Your Eyes", dedicated to Dr. Maya Angelou.  In addition to Dr.
Maya Angelou, Ms. Beverly has been influenced by musician, poet and writer, Gil Scott-Heron, singer, songwriter Smokey Robinson and
poet, actor, playwright, Oscar Brown, Jr. A founding member of
Collective Voices, a sisterhood of poets, she presents poetry on stages
around the Metropolitan Washington area (schools, churches, libraries) in several states and Brixton, London, England.  While touring
London, her poem "Love's Been Here All the Time" was published in an anthology (Whose Equality).  Her poetry has also been
published by the International Library of Poetry in "letters from the Soul" and in an anthology published by Creative Circle.  Presently her
poetry appears in an anthology called "Unity through Poetry", published by Poetic Java Publishing Co., Baltimore, Md., and most recently,
"Tuesdays", sponsored by Barnes and Noble Booksellers (Bowie, Md.) and the Poet Connection.  Most of her poetry includes, love,
appreciation, inspiration and tributes.  She is well known as the "Love Poet".  Ms. Beverly is the founder and director of a youth poetry
group called "Girls and Boys with Hearts".  She is a lifetime member of Federally Employed Women (FEW) and volunteer worker and
poet in residence for Black Women in Sisterhood for Action, BISA.

Some of her most memorable performances have been opening for J. California Cooper at the University of the District of Columbia,
National Press Building, Awards luncheon sponsored by National Black Media Coalition, private performance for former Ambassador of
South Africa for the United States, Franklin Sonn at the South African Embassy, Annual Black Family Reunion sponsored by the National
Council of Negro Women; Las Amigas 40th Anniversary Convention, Museum of African Arts, Smithsonian, Baird Auditorium,
Smithsonian, Hirshhorn Museum, Smithsonian, Blackburn Center, Howard University and Lincoln Theater, Washington, DC.  Celebrating
Black History Month 2001, along with Collective Voices, she made her broadcast television debut on "Evening Exchange", hosted by Kojo
Namdi.  Along with Collective Voices, she is organizer of th Annual Poetry Extravaganza, celebrating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  
During Black History Month she is the organizer and host of an Annual Poetry Festival in Iverson Mall, Temple Hills, Md.  Ms. Beverly read
